Shipping Fragile 75" LCD Monitor CAN to Singapore
Shipping large electronic devices, such as 75-inch LCD monitors, requires careful attention to packaging safety and aviation regulations regarding magnetic components.
This case study details how GWT Shipping assisted a client who faced a booking cancellation during the peak season.
By quickly reorganizing the route and ensuring compliance with safety standards, we successfully arranged the transport from Guangzhou to Singapore, ensuring the sample arrived safely for the client’s project needs.

Project Snapshot
- 輸送ルート: Guangzhou (CAN) ➔ Singapore (SIN)
- Cargo: 75-inch LCD Monitor (Sample)
- Volume: 141KG / 1 Plywood Crate
- Service Type: CIF Air Freight
- Key Factors: Magnetic inspection, Fragile cargo, Peak season space shortage.
Background & Challenges
In August 2023, a Shenzhen-based technology company needed to ship a 75-inch LCD monitor sample to Singapore for a scheduled exhibition.
Due to the busy export season in Southeast Asia, the client’s original booking was cancelled by the airline due to space constraints (“off-loaded”). With a tight deadline, the client contacted GWT Shipping for assistance.
After reviewing the cargo details, we identified three main operational requirements:
Magnetic Compliance: The monitor contains speakers and magnets, which requires a specific inspection for air transport safety.
Packaging Requirements: As a large and fragile item, the monitor must be transported upright and cannot be stacked.
Aircraft Limitations: The package dimensions were too large for standard narrow-body aircraft, limiting flight options.

Operational Solutions
To ensure the shipment met the deadline, our team implemented the following steps:
1. Rerouting to Guangzhou (CAN) for Better Capacity
We advised the client to ship via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) instead of Shenzhen.
Reasoning: Guangzhou Airport offers more wide-body aircraft flights to Singapore. These aircraft have larger cargo doors suitable for the oversized crate, significantly reducing the risk of being off-loaded again compared to smaller aircraft.
2. Arranging Magnetic Inspection
Since the cargo contained magnetic components, we coordinated with a qualified inspection agency at Guangzhou Airport. We arranged for the Magnetic Inspection to be done immediately upon cargo arrival. This ensured all safety documents were ready before customs clearance, avoiding delays.
3. Standardizing Packaging
To prevent damage during transit, we guided the client on proper packaging standards:
Using a Non-Fumigated Plywood Crate to facilitate quick customs clearance in Singapore.
Applying clear “Fragile,” “Keep Upright,” and “Do Not Stack” labels to instruct ground handling staff.
Adding sufficient internal cushioning to protect the screen.
4. Efficient Inland Transport & Customs
We arranged a dedicated truck to transport the goods directly from the Shenzhen factory to the Guangzhou airport terminal. Simultaneously, our customs team pre-checked the commercial invoice and packing list. This allowed us to complete the export declaration immediately after the cargo arrived at the airport warehouse, catching the earliest available flight.

Project Outcomes
Thanks to the rapid execution of the revised plan, we achieved the following results:
On-Time Arrival: The cargo arrived in Singapore 24 hours before the exhibition setup deadline, despite the initial booking cancellation.
Zero Damage: Upon inspection at the destination, the monitor screen and casing were free of any cracks or defects.
Smooth Clearance: The pre-arranged magnetic report allowed the cargo to pass airport security in Guangzhou without detention.
GWT Expert Insight
Note for Shippers: When exporting large screens or video walls by air, it is important to verify the aircraft type (Passenger vs. Freighter) beforehand.
Many passenger flights have height restrictions for pallets. Also, preparing for a Magnetic Inspection in advance is recommended to ensure a smooth handover at the airport.
クライアントの声
